electrical problem

My 87tc is having a electrical problem. Sometimes after I start it and I have the lights on or the heat on there will be intermittent power surges. The lights will dim and the fan motor will go to half speed and it will toggle back and forth every few seconds. It doesn't do this all the time. Is this a problem with the ground or with some kind of control module?

Put a DMM on the batery to monitor its voltage. Does the batt voltage drop significantly? By how much?

Sounds like an alternator / regulator problem to me.
