Electrical Nightmare

Here's the story: I was driving to work, and I hear a click, and my speedometer, tach, and all other dash functions stop working. While all these went out, the high beam light on the dash comes on and stays on, even with the lights off. The hazard lights on the dash come on, but they don't blink, they stay on. Also, when this happens, my heater lights go off and I cant turn the heat off or adjust it, it stays on whatever setting it was on before this happens. I'm thinking it's a short or loose connection somewhere, because sometimes going over bumps, the car will work perfectly. Today i was looking at it, and it sounds like the motor for the power antennae was running without the key in the car, and the antenna itself wasnt moving. When i move the antenna with the switch, it moves slower than normal. And all of these problems happen suddenly, it doesnt matter if the car is warm or cold. I don't know where to look for something that would affect all these systems. Your help would be appreciated

Smae thing happened to my car and I hit the top of the dash and it returned to normal. Must be a loose connection behind the dash or a bad ground somewhere.

I have the same problem with the car I picked up yesterday. my dash is torn out though and there are wires everywhere, so I am thinking something is just disconnected, probably a ground

I went through and removed most of the wiring I could on Sunday, have yet to go back and start putting it back together yet.

FYI, my lights were staying on whenever the battery was attached.

Ditto... happened while I was putting the dash back in a couple of weeks ago. The problem is a faulty ground connection. In my case cleaning the connections and reseating the connector on the cluster was enough to fix it. Give that a shot and that should do the trick.
