My bird sits for a week from dead turbo. I pull it into the garage to swap in my spare and find two 6" sections of rear ABS coax cable sitting where it was parked. Thought it was just some coax that had gotten run over. When I was busy cursing being under the car, fighting with the turbo support bracket, the little SOB hopped out from the top of my diff and ran off somewhere in the garage. I looked up in there, and sure enough, 6" sections missing from both cables. If I ever find that pos it's stew time my friend...stew time.

Well, that wascal wabbit. Where I live we have ground squirrels. They can build a nest in that nice warm engine block useing whatever they can find-overnight. Wiring insulation is a favorite. You can sleep on it or eat it, good for both. Startup the next morning, if it will start, has interesting sounds and challanging dianostics. They seem to have a fondness for injector harness, the most expensive wiring under the hood. Here in CA, we can't kill them right away. We have to sponsor therapy, group sessions and continue to supply new wiring till they voluntarily stop on their own. We can't shout, throw rocks or otherwise belittle them least we harm their self-estem. There is one in the yard now getting public assistance because I destoryed it's engine nest thus depriving it of housing. If I continue this type of action, I can be arrested and put into sensativity training for 30 days for the fist offense. I'm afraid to do too many mod's to my car least it rats me out. Right now were're at a stand off. I provide meals on wheels and it doesn't dail 911.
83 dead bird, in pieces however I'm reading from the book of the dead, should be running soon.

The EXACT same thing happened to me about this time last year!! Twice in 3 weeks rabbits chewed thru the rear ABS cables. Fixed it once, few weeks later, chewed thru again!

The cables are about 2+ feet longer than they need to really be, with the extra length under the carpet in the trunk. You can splice them back together..... that is what I did last year... TWICE!

Sounds like California has the same rules we do in B.C. Do everything politically corrrect, or face the rath of some group or other! I do know that you canm humanely trap the rabbits using a very sensitive system, and must ensure that when the trap closes, it does not startle them, causing further stress induced problems which can lead to the requirement of counselling! So, they way I do it, using a baffled door system, soft padded cage with neutral clolors and lighting, than after they are caught, take em out the back and, BullsEye sauce and a slow low fire works well(-:

fiveliter8,I pulled the ABS cables off the shelf today to clean up and noticed they are dry rotted and cracked. Sorry I didn't realy look them over that good when dismantling the car.I would try to splice them together. I have successfully done that before. Just make sure you use a heat shrink tubing to aviod corrosion.

rabbits are not too bad here in upstate NY now that we have so many coyotes , cougars are seen in some areas too,,, I bet the Peta jerks would have a double fit if they saw how a coyote tears up a nice fuzzy little bunny,,, they need a reality check
