What do the EEC tuners do, how much are they, and where can I buy one. I read a little about them in a previous thread and some people were talking about getting one.

I was told that eec tuner costs $350. Then the catch, if you have an la3 or some other eec code that isn't covered in the base program then you must buy the pcm explorer software package that adds another $150 to the price tag. I got this info directly from Randy Schlitz, he created the eec tuner. I have to read up on this more, but it just seems like you burn your own chips. in my opinion this is just tricking the eec into using your set parameters. You can change anything you want as many times as you want but its still basically a chip that fools your eec.
I personally am going to use the sds system. it has the controller built in and completely replaces the eec. The eec tuner requires you to have a home or laptop cpu to adjust the settings. If you are at the track and don't have a laptop you can't adjust anything till you get home. The sds can be adjusted anytime because the controller doesn't have to be taken out of the car. The sds costs about twice as much but for my goals is worth it. I really like the eec tuner, I just have some issues with eec itself. it seems to have too many holes in it, but thats just my $.02.

I have talked to a few people who run them and they all agree that it is very streetable. Any DFI system that is setup correctly should be streetable. Most of the dfi systems that aren't are because of the extent of mods done to the car. Brian Bitters has the TEC II system and his car is very streetable. He has dynoed over 355rwhp with his 88TC. His was the black 88 at Carlisle with all of the Esslinger stuff and huge turbo.
