Hey guys, I been having probs with my eec display blinking so I ran the test and came up with a 01 code. I know theoretically that it means a blend door out of position...but what the hell is that and where is it located? More importantly, how do I fix it? THx for the info.

I can send you an exploded diagram of the evaporator case which does show the blend door. I think?? the door is actuated by vacuum but it's position is electrically sensed. You may just need a new vac line or maybe a sensor connector came loose. This isn't something I have experience with so I really can't tell you more. E-mail me if you want the diagram.

EEC (Electronic Engine Control Computer) or EATC (Electronic Automatic Temperature Control)? There are about three electrical connectors behind the glove compartment; it may be possible to jiggle a connector or two and get it to work.

If I remember correctly, the blend door is powered by an electric motor with feedback position control. The blend door is what determines the temp of the outlet air by blending hot air from the heater or cold air from the A/C with ambient temp air.

Sorry to restart an old thread, but if it's electrically controlled, why does it have a vacuum line running to it? (well, my 86 has one that runs through the firewall and appears to go in it's general direction)
thanks

The Electronic Automatic Temperature Control is electrically powered. The manual climate control uses vacuum lines.
