Working on getting my fans back on line: want to test the the ECT. Is there an EASY way to get at it? My pudgy little fingers can touch the connector but that's about it. I've tried screw drivers and probes of many shapes and sizes. Does the upper intake have to come off?

I changed my ECT without removing th intake.(not easy) Take the intake off. You should practice doing that anyway [Image: biggrin.gif] It probably won't be the last time you take it off. It's not hard. Look in the FAQ section of the NATO site. Find "valve cover gasket replacement" it has the steps to remove the intake.

Eric, What tool did you use to actually remove the ECT?

I used a deep socket and a long ratchet with a swivel head. Also, I have long spindelly fingers and thin girly wrists(I'm a skinny guy trapped in a fat guy's body). If I remember correctly I inserted the ratchet from the front and stuck my hand in from the back to align the socket. I also have freakishly long arms.(I must be painting quite a handsom picture of myself [Image: tongue.gif]) I could only get about one click on the gear of the ratchet but that got it loose. I then inserted my other hand in the front and turned it out with my finger tips. Reverse these steps to replace.
Now that I know how simple the intake comes off I won't do that again.( my wrist still cramps up from time to time [Image: biggrin.gif])

Eric thanks for the info. After a description like that I can't believe you could talk about my "nuts" [Image: biggrin.gif] ( http://natomessageboard.com/Forum1/HTML/014691.html )

Do you remember what sized socket?
I agree, it's probably easier to pull the TB/upper intake to do it.

I don't remember. I had a new one, so I took it over to my tool box and sized it. (Jeff would slap me in the back of the head but I had no intention of putting the old one back in.)

BTW. The statement 'Pete's nuts' could be taken 2 ways. The ('s) is not always possessive. It may be a contraction of 'is'. ie. Pete is nuts. But you had to take the low road didn't you [Image: biggrin.gif]

My "parts of speech" English is a little rusty (he says with fond memories of trying to diagram the parts of speech) but I eleive you originaly used "nuts" as a noun. You may have been referencing metallic objects rather than anatomical parts but it was used as a noun, no less. As a contraction you would hae been correct, at least according to my significant other, but we won't dwell on that [Image: biggrin.gif]

Jim, I hope we answered your question before all this silliness started.
Welcome to the board,BTW

Pete, does your 'significant other' agree with the grammer or the content within the statement "Pete is nuts". Just wondering? [Image: biggrin.gif] Thanks for making my work day a bit lighter.

Thanks guys; I can get a pretty good picture of the contortions. You didn't mention anything about blood so it couldn't have been that bad. This is a first for me using a forum; I think I could get used to it. You're certainly a handy bunch of guys. Thanks again.
