Are you sure it has the EEC system and not the MECS system? i ask because the codes differ from those systems.

What year/engine?

Well i'm not for sure but it has the same thing we have, as for pulling codes with the jumper wire. it is a 1994 ford probe 16 valve 4 cylinder not for sure of the size, i'm thinking that it might be the same way we pull our codes. hwere would i find that out with out taking it in to the shop, is there a web site that has this type of thing???????

Well i don't know much about the Ford Probe, but he must have the 2.0L. And i am showing that the 2.0L was controlled by the EEC-IV/MCU system, not the OBD-II.

i could be wrong, but i have a hard time believing it is controlled by the OBD-II anyway. OBD-II wasn't required until 1996. Only a few Makes and Models used the OBD-II before 1996. The T-Bird/Cougar 4.6L engine was one of the few Fords to use it in 1994.

Actually, the fact that he jumped a few wires to get the code supports that it couldn't be controlled by the OBD-II system.

OBD-II cannot be "jumped" to flash the DTC. You MUST have some type of scantool or the like to communicate with the system.

By the way, are you sure it flashed 5, then 7?

i ask because i know the '95s used 3 digit DTCs, unlike our Turbo Coupes which were 2 digits. i *think* the '94 used 3 digit DTCs too, for that vehicle.

If that is true, then there is no code 57. But there is a code 157 for that vehicle, and it has to do with low voltage signal from the MAF.

If that is the code, check the MAF connections, check the MAF for any damage.

Also, if the car was running bad (very low idle) it may have triggered this code.
