E6 differences

Hi,
My bird is down for the winter and I pulled the 5-speed out to be rebuilt. While it's out, I'm am thinking about either swapping the ihi for a T3 I have on a spare motor from an 86 TC or upgrading to a T3/T4. My question, is there any difference between the 86 E6 and the 88 E6 that would make me choose one over the other?
Thanks for your input.

E6 manifolds are the same

as long as you stay away from E3 manifolds you're good

also to use the 83-86 T3 with the factory 87-88 Intercooler you'll need an SVO compressor housing or try to cut the ears off yours

they make an adaptor but it's to tall to use the top mount intercooler

Thanks for the info. I was online looking at SVO compressor housings and would like to go that route because it looks like there is more to clamp the hose on than if I just machine the ears off the T3. As I was looking at them I decided I don't know enough about turbos to buy one. My thinking is the housings probably match the wheel so if I get the wrong one, it would not work right. I would like to go that route because the housings I saw were way cheaper than a T3/T4.
