Taking car back to dyno on monday

Boport stageIII head with big valves
phenolic spacer with no water going to lower
2.1 cam, boport big valves and springs
Boblee gutted upper profiled lower
65 Super coupe Throttle body
BIG truck NPR intercooler with 2.5 piping in and 3 in out to TB
Boblog Header
Performance Techniques 50 trim/stage III .63
3" exhaust
plugs gapped at .32

3.73 gears in 8.8, aluminum drivesahft
SCT Tuner and chip
57lb injectors
BIG custom bigrmotorsports fuel rail(shameless plug)
MAS air conversion using air meter from Crown Vic

I'm going to run a max 6500rpm since its a stock bottom end.

Its a DD car, and thats why I didnt want to go to big on the injectors

Questions:
How much boost would you guys say is safe on 91 octane?

How much boost is safe with 100 octane race fuel mixed in?


Previous run at 14psi with 36lb injectors, old school VAM, SCT tune, and only 6000rpm car made 251 at the wheels(equates to 303+ at the flywheel)

Your thoughts and horsepower estimations?

I would run 18psi or so...290rwhp

If u race gas it...try 22psi...330hp

LOL! I didnt dyno it. I installed the MAS, and 55 lbs injectors and brought it back to the tuner.He called me to notify me that while he was tuning the car it started smoking. It was periodic smoke, so he suggested I take her home and check it out before he pushed her hard. He thought it was the turbo. Well I replaced the turbo with a known good turbo, and it still smoked. I pulled the plugs and they look fine. I compression checked it, and it looks fine. I did have oil on the threads of plugs, so maybe the rings took a dump. Soooo long story short, she has been sitting in the garage while I work on other projects.


I have been taking it to swansons. I might take it to GTR next time since its 2 miles from my house. I did take it to Spank Time, but Adam was giving me the run around and he wasnt sure how to tune it.

Yea adam is a damn good tuner but have herd him more than once say he can not do svo's so no TC also

Gtr only dose mail order tunes but its nice to use them for there dyno every now and then lol

with all the work done to the car why no interest in a decent standalone and possibly even learning how to tune it yourself?

Because I am not interested in having a laptop always on my passenger seat, and having to change the darn tune according to sea level, air temp,fuel, blah blah blah. The only thing I want to see in my passenger seat has a lap and a nice top, and can make me a sandwich. LOL!!

I am the guy who wants to turn the key and just drive. I had a stand alone megasquirt system, and sold it. There is no one out here in California that knows how to tune a megasquirt system. Sure, I can guess on whats best myself, but I dont have the time, and have to much invested in the motor to be guessing. They say all you need is a basic start tune and the system will tune itself after that. I call BS. You still have to tune it yourself even with Tunerstudio. I have a system now that guys here in Cali understand how to use and many of the top racers use(SCT). I can drop it off, and have it tuned, and then just get in and drive.

You can see guys selling off there megasquirts darn near everyday now. Why? They either dont have the support they need, dont want to tune it themselves, or came to the realization that its not really self tuning. When there is a true system that tunes itself real time, I will consider it, but till then, I'm gonna drop it off and have someone with real knowledge do it.

If I ever get back to working on my car instead of spending time with my gf, boat, maybe new house in the works, work trips, and vacations and I finish tuning using the moates quarterhorse and SVO johns SD tune I will def let ya know what I think. SVO John is a cool dude, and very helpful. Also sounds like the Pimp is an awesome tuning system from what I've looked into and I'm sure there are some experts with it on here by now, aside from stingers forum. Maybe you can become the local Cali tuning expert lol!

Heck no, I'm a lazy old Dude who wants to drop it off and come back with a smile. Ill wrench the daylights out of her, but I will not tune it myself. Just set on my ways.

If there ever is a tuner here for the megasquirt and knows it inside and out, I will drop it off and have him make it work. If it does work, I will let everyone know. Till then its gonna be SCT tune with MAS.
