Getting ready to install a downpipe. Is there a special gasket that goes between turbo outlet and downpipe? My downpipe eliminates the elbow

TIA,

There isn't a gasket between the exhaust elbow and the downpipe, however I'm not sure since it sounds like your downpipe attaches diresctly to the turbo exhaust housing and eliminates the elbow ? Is this a custom downpipe ?

It's the ATR downpipe that bolts directly to the IHI, and looses the elbow.

Thanks in advance.

No gasket, and I hope you're not using ATR's external wastegate. It's crap BTW. Make sure the mating surfaces are clean and flat, and install away. I'm interested in one too...where did you buy it and what did it cost? Later

Got it direct from ATR - Kind of pricey (250 + shipping) but I like it's looks. Using the stock watste gate thats on the IHI.

Thanks.

I would just like to remingd everyone that the TC downpipe for the ihi will not fit a t3. The SVO version is for the t3 and needs an external gate. Use a Tial. ATR does have a new downpipe for the t3 that eliminates the elbow and uses the internal gate.

NO TC and NO headaches.

Thanks Glenn, I forgot to mention the difference. What's this about a new T3 one for internal gate? Any idea on pricing? I'll have to check out their site later.

You can see it here. http://www.atrperformance.com/images/SVO303.jpg

They don't list a price but I seem to remember somewhere in the $350 range. I know the svo style is $300 so the first number could be wrong.

Thanks for the info, Glen. I'm just trying to make my TC a little more spirited for street driving, opening up the intake and the exhaust. For the present and near future I'm not planning on changing out my IHI turbo. If I decide to in the future, well I guess someone will get a good deal on a used ATR IHI downpipe! Spending the extra bucks doesn't really bother me since I haven't had a car payment in 10 years since I paid my TC off.

Thanks again, and thanks for all the expertise here on the site that's helping me out! Hopefully someday I'll be able to contribute something that will help someone else, too.
