Hi all--
Anyone know if the driving lights from the 83-86 and the 87-88 are interchangeable?I know the brackets are different, wondering about the lamps.
Will they bolt up?
Thank you.

No, and no.
83-86 use the Marchal foglamps which have a "top-or-bottom" mount (ie, you can flip them around, they're top mount on TC's and bottom mount on Jeep's IIRC).
87-88 use Hella foglamps that are rear mount (the bolt/stud is in the back of the housing).
I sell the correct OEM Hella's new. Hella bought out Marchal some years ago and the original mold has been destroyed beyond repair for the 83-86 lights.

Joe,
Try the Jeep clubs, also the Escort GT, Ford EXP, and quite a few other models used the same lights.
I can get new ones from Hella without the "cat head" and with an updated lense, but they run about $150/set.
There are quite a few nice "generic" driving lights available at local parts stores, and most of them are a top/bottom mount. Find one in the size you like if you're not worried about originality.

OK Michael, much appreciated. Now that you mention that, I had a Lincoln Mark VII a couple of years ago that had those type of lamps.

Michael's right. Until I found a set of factory lights at a JY I used an aftermarket set. I modified them for back mount using the small parts from my broken set, but that's beside the point. I found that the aftermarket set looked nice on my TC and IMO performed better. Like Michael said, I got the JY set for originality.

Stock foglights dont really do much for lighting IMO.
My Hella FF75 driving lights are the best thing I ever did to my car for lighting. Outshine the low and highbeams together.

You guys are absolutely right. As hard as I'm trying to keep the stock look,I'll probably go with a set of aftermarket lights.I was fortunate enough to find a set of brackets, thats half the battle.

There was a post a while back about some aftermarket lights that very closely resemble the factory Hellas. I think you can get them at WalMart and they're top/bottom mount.
