Well, I took the car for brisk ride and when I parked her, the window wouldnt go up. I can see the lights dim when I press the window switch. What should I check?

I bet the nylon gear in the motor is in 34 pieces! As I recall not a hard thing to change.

My experience has been that the three little plastic plugs go out before the gear does, but still - either way it's a good idea to change both the gear and the plugs if one or the other is bad.

I cannot hear the motor run when I hit the switch. All I hear is a click noise from inside the door.
I did have a stereo shop rewire a car stereo for the speakers. I'm not sure if they pulled to door panels to do it. If they did, and moved something, what should I look for?

Pull the door panel, remove the motor from the regulator, and take the plate off the gear assy (3 screws) and have a look at the gear and 3 plastic "buttons".

One click or many as you hold the button? My guess is to rebuild it. I've done a few

if it just clicks give the door panel a swift hit below the arm rest near the speaker cover. do this while holding the switch up. may get you window up in the mean time if the motor is stuck, recommend a rebuild or new one like others suggested

Update: Motor was bad, so I had to put in new one. WHAT A B*tch this was!! No, holes large enough to unbolt window motor! I had to open up the holes, just to unscrew the 8mm, bolts holding it in place.
To make matters worse, I didnt have a 83-86 window motor handy, plus they are special order and not cheap. But since I just parted a 87, I have one that I know works. Was it a direct fit?....NOOOOOOO! I had to elongate the lower bolt hole in wondow assembly to make the newer model motor fit. I also had to splice the connector since the 83-86 and 87-88 connectors are different. Works good now, and its supposed to rain here soon. Got her DONE!
