Considering using the drivers half of the mustang cat back system, is this a direct fit?, i do understand that the tailpipe has to be extended, where does this extension happen at, is it a problem welding on the stainless, or are the just polished? Any do's or dont's or other things I should know?

The Mustang systems come up short after making the hump over the rear axle. It's somewhere between 17 and 22" short. I polished SS pipe and then just had it welded on.

I used the GT kit and it works great without the need to be extended because it has a turndown already on there. It does come up a few inches short of the stock cat-back but it's nothing to be woried about. It looks like stock after the installation. Very nice [Image: biggrin.gif]

So on the shadetree mechanic scale of 1 to 10, what would you give it? Any tips that would make the job easier?

I think that putting the exhaust together is pretty simple. All you really need are some jack stands and/or ramps, some socket wrenches, a hacksaw or cut-off wheel (to remove the old exhaust), some u-clamps (to hold the exhaust sections together), some exhaust pipe connectors (ones that will slide over your pipes so you can clamp them), some various bends (I used two 45*s), and a few hours of time.
Overall, I would give this about a 3 on the shade tree difficulty scale with 1 being "Let Grandma change her own oil" and 10 equal to "the minimum number of drinks you'll need to even begin seriously contemplating doing the job yourself."

If someone can host a small video clip I have one of my 3" MAC exhaust and you can see how it exits near the bumper. I can't seem to get it to upload correctly on here.
I can also email it to you if that would be easier.
