While my engine and trannie are in pieces around the garage I decieded to sit in the car and make car noises. The driver's seat has the twisted bend in it. This is the second seat, the first completely broke. Is the 83 seat worth fixing? I looked through the threads for replacement ideas, the sn95 bucket seemed to get the most votes but will any ford fit? An LA bone yard wanted $150 per seat, a Riverside yard wanted $25 (if they had it) and on the 22nd of this month everything in the yard is one half off. What are chances I can find one on half off day.

Go to the yard and scout it out the day before. Then, be there the minute it opens on half-price day. There's alot of guys that go in and buy everything on half-price day only to resell the stuff on Ebay and locally.

OMG I got a good chuckle out of that.. When I first got mine and couldn't drive it cause it needed some TLC first.. Thats what I did.. Sat in it.. turned the radio on and made car noises.. My wife thought I was a complete retard.. But I loved every minute of it!

I couldn't coordinate my motions with the sounds cause the seat won't support the long throw to third. Does anybody know what seats will fit a 83 TC?

See if you can get a hold of Chip Givens (RDOG). He knows the yards in your area as well as anyone, and who has the best and worst prices.

I think that most Fox body bucket seats will fit, but I am not sure.

I was somehow able to get some tire squeel noise while bouncing off the rev limiter when I first got mine home and it had no brakes.

My driver seat has broken and been fixed three or four times in the last 19 years. Most good upholstery shops can handle it for you.

All Fox cars, all SN95 (Fox4) Mustangs, plus 1984-92 Tempo/Topaz , pre-1990 Escort & GT/Lynx & XR3 will fit your car. You have to use your track though; other tracks won't work with the possible exception of a Mark VII.
Just a word of warning about newer Mustang seats: they have a tendency to rub the armrest on the door. Not bad if you have cloth, but lots of squeaks if you have leather. Otherwise they are very light in weight, and seem to have stronger seat backs. No issues in 5+ years of running them in the convertible. Well, other than the squeaks.

Thanks for the help everyone, with any luck there will be a Mark VII with grey leather seats on the 22nd.
