i know this isnt gonna go over with the older generation on this site but as you know drifting has become very popular and is one hell of a rush done safely and rite. i just wanted to see the consensus would be if there was an 87 bird that was done to the gills to do shows and drift and how possible it would be with this fox body platform. since 2004 when i had a 400hp 4banger 87{which wasnt enough :} } ive been saving and have come up with $35,000 that i have put into the car. its been a crazy undertaking and a project i wont do again but wont forget. once spring 2009 breaks ill have pics and the list of insanity that went into the car. i just wanted to see what people thought of a serious{not half ass} attempt to make a sick bird that slides well :} i cant wait to show you guys since these have been my favorite style birds for 16yrs. see ya soon if i can keep my sanity

Professional drifting has taken a big turn in the autosports industry these days. With sponsors like Mopar out there, I'm sure everyone knows its getting big.
I personally don't care for drifting all that much, but I'm not against it either. I'd love to see ANY Fox chassis with 35 grand into it, especially if it has a 2.3T powerplant.

i had considered this before, and it sounds like a blast, but the $$$ was too much for me. my 300HP bird slides just fine, so id imagine that even 600HP would be plenty.
i must insist you post pictures though...as id like to see what a $35,000 fox chassis looks like... !

ill post by april of 09. its about 85% finished but with 2 kids and 10hr days at work its tough and im doing most of the work myself. i figured this project to be around $20,000 to start but i had alot of hand made parts produced and that didnt help the wallet. these dam 87-88s are a joke to find parts for that are completely different from what everyone else is doing. but with 9 months and a few professionls steppin in to help ill be ok for april. i know it will get great feedback and im really excited to show and drive it

I think it is great that you want to drift one. I would also like to see a TC with 35k into it.

You definitely have to bring that monster to Carlisle next year. I bet there would be LOTS of interest.
