downpipe problem, please help

The other day I went to install a 3"downpipe (deleted cat) that I received from Sacremento Mustang. After I installed the pipe and turned the car on I heard the most awfull sounding exhaust. It was leaking between the turbo elbow and the downpipe. I crawed underneath loosened the bolts and tried to reposition the pipe. Tightened everything back up and still there is that leak. I have the bolts as tight as I can get them but I can reach my hand up and fell a little gap inbetween the two. Has anyone else had this problem? I kinda feel emberaced driving around like this ( except you can hear the turbo spool a lot louder! He He He). Is there any type of gasket or anything that I could place in between the to so that it seets properly?

Did you just bolt it on? I know that there is some modification necessary for it to fit right, so that might be it. I'm waiting to put mine on so I don't know exactly what's necessary to make it fit correctly.

mods: Sony HU, Pioneer 6.5" 3-way in the door and Pioneer 6x8 2-way in the rear deck; full 3" exhaust on the way (dp, hi-flow cat, straight through muffler) (the first 2/3 of which is now in my living room!!)

I believe the only modification neccessary is that you need to elongnate (sp?) the holes. I also have the Sac pipe for my 88, but im putting a T3 on before I do. Then I'll need to do my front mount IC.

I just had my stock downpipe off and after reconnecting it I could feel exhaust leaking at the area where the pipe and the elbow join.Went to the dealer and he looked up the exhaust and it showed nothing for a doughnut type gasket on there.I have SAC on order ,I hope it dosent leak....

Well I have the downpipe on a T-3 so I didn't think that there would have to be any modification.

There is no gasket. I have had trouble getting my S/M dp to seal on the T3, but this pipe was originally bolted to an IHI. It is sealed now but I had to "play" with it a bit,
took 3-4 tries to get it.
