dowel pins

Did a search but couldn't find any part number for the bell housing to block dowel pins. The local ford doesn't stock any dowel pins of any kind. Tried the Zoo, car quest, kragen. Found some at Summit, standard .500 ford pins. If I could get a part # I might get them local. It's for my 83 TC w/non world 5speed, how hard can this get? Thanks

Check with a speed or machine shop. That's where I have gotten them. I don't have any PNs

Thanks, the shops I've talked to so far use the old pins or get them in a kit. For some reason parts stores aren't getting many calls for pins. Crate engines seem to be a big reason there aren't as many machine shops hence less demand for individual parts. I know the shop that machined my block and head is no longer in business after twenty some odd years. I'll probably have a long drive towards LA to get them.

Let me know. I can check with my shop and I think, still get the dowels for the head to block. I'd have to ask about the tranny dowels. On those, check with Hanlon; http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com/

Hit the road today, about six machine shops, one junk yard. Found a parts house that knew somebody that knew somebody at a ford dealership. Can't use the original number anymore, he used a number for a ranger, we'll see if it works.

The Ranger piece should work as the blocks are the same & I doubt if Ford would have changed the hole in the bellhousing. Please post the part number when you get it so I can pick up a set as well for my project.

Found the pins! Ford part number: E6DZ 6397 A. One package of two pins. I believe we used a 95 Ranger 2.3, called the manager of the service dept through a friend (the guys at the counter didn't know what a dowel pin was) and he got it from on of his special shop books. I paid too much! About $14 for the package of two but perhaps with this number they can be found elsewhere for less. Unfortunatly ford will not cross referance for the TC, parts will have to come of the Ranger in the future.

Pete, this is for the trans bell housing to engine block. They are hollow so a bolt can pass through them.
