What is the best ( correct) replacement for the plastic bushing on the door latch? Ebay has Ford and other aftermarket replacement assemblies for $28-30 each and someone is selling the grey PVC Plastic bushings separately . Has any one had any experiences with these? Thanks...john

You can get them from any parts store in the "HELP!" section. I got one from Advance and it's held up fine for two years so far. Seems like it'll go a heck of a lot longer.

Thanks to all, I shall go to Advance after work today.
Actually my wife's 89 T-bird's drivers door bushing fell off and makes a clicking sound when she opens the door. After looking on the Turbo Coupe the drivers side has been gone for a while and the other side is pretty worn....john

I just finished them up. The Turbo Coupe ,I had to replace the whole assembly because the stud would not unscrew from the bracket. The 89 would unscrew so I could replace only the plastic bushing. Both are good as new...john

Big Daddy, do you have the part numbers for the parts you used? I need to do mine.

Pete, The one I used is from Advance Auto- Needa? M10x1.25 #38445. About $10.00 including tax.
I think Dorman/Help has the same part#.
The only problem that I had, was the bolt threads through the bracket(I guess it's a guard so nothing gets snagged on the bolt).
I had to file (or drill) the threads so the bolt would turn freely in the bracket. you will see what I mean... john
