Does this ever happen to you?

If I have something around 1/4 tank of gas in the car and corner hard while having my foot in it my car will starve for fuel.
Also happens if I am taking off in a streight line. Only when I don't have a lot of gas in it though.
It has also happened when I would just be cornering hard and not in boost. Motor would loose power and as soon as I ease up on the cornering it is fine. Probably more like 1/8 of a tank not 1/4. Never happens when I have more gas in the tank.
Seems like gas is getting pulled away from the fuel pump. Car runs great otherwise and has good fuel pressure. Seem to be related more to "g" forces not to how hard I am in the throttle.

Does it do it when it's hot out or just whenever?

I've had a few cars go and vapor lock on me when they have low tanks in the summer months.

Otherwise.. the tank's baffles aren't working?

Temp make no difference at all. Only when under hard cornering or hard accelration. And only when not a lot of gas in the tank.
On a previous 87 tc I had there was no baffles in the tank. Not any in an 88 tc tank I parted out either.

you are right about the baffels they dont have them in any of the tanks I have been in I think you will find with a quarter tank or less it will starv for fuel but you are doing some pretty hard corners ain't it fun

Good reason (excuse?) to put in a fuel cell? [Image: biggrin.gif]

It happens to me too. It's embarrasing sometimes when leaving an intersection. [Image: frown.gif]
Anyone have a reasonable fix?

With prices the way they are this may not be reasonable but it's common sense - put gas in it [Image: biggrin.gif]

Wes, this is a known quirk of the TCs, there is at least a couple past posts about it.

Letting the cat out of the bag is a whole lot easier than putting it back in.

I had the same thing with my red 87tc as well. I had talked to Jim P about it a while back and he said his doesn't do it.
His is an 86 so maybe there is a slight difference in the fuel tanks?
It is not really a problem more of an irratation.
Of course a fuel cell with a sump would take care of that. [Image: biggrin.gif]

I recently replaced the tank in my 88 and the baffle in the new (aftermarket) tank was nothing like the one in the OEM tank and I started noticing fuel starvation especially getting on it coming out of a right hand turn. The one in the OEM tank looked taller which probably reduced the amount of "slosh" in the tank. I never really noticed this problem when I still had the old tank in the car.
