Im thinking of welding up a new downpipe. I ahve a 3 inch from the turbo elbow, i want to do a 3 inch from the turbo and a seperate 1 3/4 inch for the wastegate, I'll just dump it onto the ground. This will help flow and give it a cool sound.
Anyone else tried this?

thats funny, everyone says to go with a 3" downpipe and catback, if the outlet is only 2.5" anything larger then that furhter down the line is not doing any good. isnt the stock downpipe 2.5" od/

you also know whats funny? see how big the turbine in the exhaust side is? we should only match our exhaust to the size of the turbine, since anything bigger isnt needed
as any turbo guy knows, the bigger the exhaust, the better, any sort of backpressure can slow spool time, and give the turbo a hard way to go in the higher RPMS
Ray: ive never done it, never seen it, but i have heard of it, it would be very interesting

It works. I'm not going into an explanation of why beyond "pressure differential" but trust us, the 3" works

The area of greatest back pressure is in the turbine housing
