The replacement gear STANDARD IGNITION DG-3 I received looks like steel. All surfaces are machined and it's anodized black. I have two used gears and both appear to be cast (rough casting everywhere but the teeth). I did the tap test, and both sound the same. Is there even an option for cast v. steel for the 2.3?

Did you ever end up installing this gear?  Did it work?
