Im not at home or near my car so i cant see if this is true or not. I've heard of other peoples cars doing this (not 2.3's). If i where to disconnect the IAC, will the car hold and stay at a steady idle?

The car will hold idle just fine, but it most likely will not want to idle on it's own for the first couple minutes (Think like an old carburated car w/ no choke)

You can disconnect it simply by unplugging it, or you can go the whole route and removing it and making a plate to block off the holes. You should adjust the idle slightly higher (and then reset the TPS), but it should work just fine.

If the curb-idle (set screw) is set too low, the engine may not idle on its own with the IAC disconnected.

The IAC does more than control the engine idle, it also aids in engine starting so that you don't have to crack the throttle blade open while engine starting. It also acts as a fast idle cam on a carb to kick up a fast idle on a cold engine. Furthermore, it also has the same function as a carb's dashpot, where upon deceleration, the IAC allows some air to bypass the throttle plate to prevent the engine from stalling on quick deceleration.

I am 100% with JT on this one..... IAC provides many important functions. If I were building a drag only car, I would probably not bother with the IAC, but for a street car, I would definately want to have it operational. Personally, I prefer my cars to run as good as (or better than) they did when the came off the showroom floor... and that includes cold start idle, dashpot function to prevent stalling on decel/snapping throttle closed, etc, etc. I have run across a few IAC problems in various cars over the years, but nothing I couldnt troubleshoot in an hour or so.
