detonation or something else ( fixed )

my car has been down all week. i have been trying to figure out why i parked it and went out the next morning and it wouldnt hardly run. Now, its running which feels like on two cyl's.

I have replaced the- plugs, wires, cap, rotor, PIP, TFI, FPR, fuel filter, & timing belt. Still running like crap. I pulled the valve cover off and looked at the cam and valves and springs and everything looks good. The timing marks and everything line up perfect when i put it on TDC.

Heres my question, when i can get it running it runs very rough, i have to keep my foot on the pedal to keep it running and when i give it gas i hear what i think is detonation, but louder than you would hear from bad gas. My next thing, i have a fuel press gauge hooked up and it wont get over 25psi while the engine is running. If its running that lean would detonation be that loud ?? or is it something else ??? im planning on doing a compression test next to make sure everything is ok internal...

25 PSI isn't very much, I think we should be at ~40 PSI with the vacuum line off. Perhaps that is your problem. Good luck with it, other more knowledgeable folks will chime in soon. Wink

I been talking to dp and he is only getting 25 psi compression in the #1 & 2 cylinders so it looks like that end of the car has a blown head gasket. It also has some kind of fuel issue.

dp, sounds like what I went through with my 2nd TC before just selling it. I spend over 2 grand on it getting it to drive and found that the head cracked. Check in between the intake/exhaust valves when you pull it for hairline cracks. Much luck to you and let me know if you need a head, the local JY has plenty of N/A heads here if worse comes to worst. Smile
