Dash Crack

Here we go. The dash gremlin finally conquered my dash. It started small at the defrost vent and literally within a week it was all the way diagonally across the dash to the far right of the speedo cluster. I hear this was even very common 25 years ago. Since a new dash is not optional and if I could find one, it would most likely be well over $500. I saw a seller on eBay that was asking that about a year ago. I'm sure he got it. Any recommendations? I looked on Rock Auto and Stock Interiors. They have options. Anyone out there have anymore? I'm looking for something to install over the original dash. I have a pad & I am just not very impressed with it. Thanks again for all the great advice. You folks are so knowledgeable.

Get the dash cap. Pretty easy to install, and if installed correctly, no one will ever notice it unless you tell them. I have had one in my TC for 17 years, and it still looks perfect.

I don’t have a dash cap, but ordered a DashMat before I picked up my car at the dealership years ago and installed it right away. (I don’t believe they had dash caps 20+ years ago...?) Anyway here in the desert it’s a must-have. Despite that, when I installed a new heater core a while ago i had to temporarily remove it, and saw that I had many cracks in the dashboard. Oh well. Can’t see them with it installed though...obviously.

Perhaps I’ll take a look at a dash cap. I’ve been happy with what I have, though, for years.
