dash cluster problems

so I have the body work mostly done on my 88tc,,, the mechanical is good now, new radiator is in, etc....runs well.

here's my problem... when I am running the car, the gauges all seem find. when I put the light switch in the middle position, my fuel indicator dips a little and my guages tweak,,, when I put my headlights on then they really tweak. sounds like a grounding problem to me,,, any simple fix for this or am I in for a headache from hell???

What exactly do you mean by tweak? It is fairly common for all 3 gauges to go up a little when the lights are on. Why? no clue.

as i move the switch into different positions, the fuel guage will drop halfway, the rpms on the tach drop, the high beam indicator goes on,,, i am wondering if there is a bad ground on the dash perhaps, and where it would be,,, or maybe i should replace the cluster??

I believe you are correct you have a ground problem. I would try pulling the cluster and checking to be sure the connectors to the cluster are clean and tight. Whenever I have the cluster out, I always clean up the printed circuit connections where the main connector plugs into the cluster.

thats a good idea, and I am sure that is what I will have to do. I have the cluster out of the other blue tbird as well, so worse comes to worse i will use that,,,, but I hope not!!
