I guess that depends on the purpose. They definately get stiffer when cut.

My opinion is NO WAY. The ride stinks and the car hops around. For me it was like riding in a blender. If you have the funds, get coilovers.

I cut the springs on my bird and it rides great on a stock set up. The most important thing to remember is safety first when dealing with springs I almost got killed by one when I did mine lol, spring compressors will not fit under the car on a stock set up, I used a tire tool, a pipe and a lawn tractor to get mine out but I would not recommend you do the same the spring shot out and missed my head by 2” no joke. Now you know what not to do the trick to cutting springs is keep them cool when you do it, some one holding a water hose on the cut when you are making it. But that’s only if you use a power tool, make up your mind what your going to use if you do it with a hack saw wd-40 will work great just remember to KEEP IT COOL other wise it will ride like crap springs are heat treated. Just to give you a reference point to go on I cut the front springs 1 down from where it stops at the top just rest the blade on that for a guide. The back ones I cut them 1 and ½ coils down from the same place I did the front. The car now rides level with the top of the tread of the tire (stock tire and snowflake wheel) just tucked under the fenders it looks and rides great. If you need anything just email me and I will do my best to help, [email protected]

p.s. it took me about 5hrs to do it to mine
