Custom springs update

OK, I got the car on the road again with all the new parts, including a PST front end kit, KYB's, and the custom springs from coilsprings.com. Here's the deal: I ordered them 1.5 inches lower, and 20% stiffer, and the tires (245/50-16) do not rub, but the ride is a little harsher than I had wanted. I feel a little ricey when I hit a few bumps, as the car will bounce some. But, the car is as flat as a pancake in the corners, and it looks alot better. Also, at the alignment shop, the camber #'s are at the bottom of the allowable range, so no $199 adjustable camber plates required. So....If you are looking at lowering your ride, it is an option that does not require you to try them and see how much you 'think' you should cut to get the desired height. Cost was $110 a pair, I think.

I am curious about lowering my car, but only about 1/2 inch in the front.

You mentioned something about a good way to try lowering the car, can you give more detail?

Get a pair of used front springs, and cut them down in 8th-of-a-coil increments until you reach the desired drop zone. It will take a considerable amount of time and effort, but unlessyou cut in small doses, you may over-drop the car...

As natmac3 said, its a hit and miss to install the springs, check the height, dis-assemble, cut the coils, re-install, check the height, etc. As far as only dropping the front by 1/2 in, I'm not sure it would be worth the effort.

Seems like I would reach my goal alot sooner at a half inch, than if I were looking to go 2" though.

It's all in how bad you want it, not how much you want that determines if it is too much work.

It doesn't need to be dropped much, I just would like it to be a little lower in the front than the back, but I'm not going to raise the back at all.
