One starts in the little hole and goes all the way through, and is about 1.5 inches inside, the other is the snail part in the middle, if you know what I mean, 2 housings both had that crack, is that normal?

I've only seen 2 factory t3's and they both have these cracks you mentioned, so I would say yes.

Cracks around the waste gate hole are common and do not seem to be a problem. A crack in the big part, well I don't know. Are there any signs of a leak such as soot? They are both probably fine if they don't leak or effect spool time.

No obvious signs of leaking on the outside, Im kinda wondering how long itll be before the crack gets worse, or if its something that can stay like it is forever. I think im going to put a holset on the build im doing so I might not even worry about it for now.

I have seen ford/chryco T3, chryco mitsu, and DSM have the WG hole cracks and run 100%
(seems more common on T3 ford than T3 ChryCo, which makes sense if you look at the 2 castings)

a crack in the snail ? hmm... havent seen that; cant be good.
no external soot traces? well, run it.
but look for a replacement /upgrade Wink

Yep, the .48 housing has a bad crack along the top out shell, the .68's crack is right where the snail starts, both had that one.

I posted some pics a while ago shortly after I received my T3. I have a small crack on my WG hole, it doesn't go all the way through. It also has a crack along the inside of the snail. This one isn't as bad as I first thought. When I asked about this then the responses I got were basically "all T3's have these cracks" or get them shortly after use. Mine isn't on the car yet, but will be within the next few days as soon as I track down the hardware.

The cracks dont affect anything as long as it does not extend to the outside. I got that information from Gary at Turbo City who has been rebuilding turbos for over 20 years.

Ok, I have a couple of pics that arent the best so bear with me, in this first pic, if you look at the bottom of the wg hole as you look at it, youll see a darker line that runs towards the center of the housing, thats the crack and it extends to the middle of the top part of the housing, but most of it doesnt go all the way through..

This pic shows the crack on the outside and extending towards the flang..

Sry for the blurry pics. The crack on the outside stops right before it gets into the flange area, but does go all the way through for the same distance on the inside. So, should I worry about this much or no?

Try using the macro focus mode on your camera, should be a button somewhere (usually on the back) with a little flower symbol on it or near it. It should make the photos a lot sharper.
