Cooling Fans

Got a question about the cooling fans on a 87 TC. The car is stock in reference to the cooling fans and nothing was ever changed that I know of. The unit was taken off last winter and cleaned and painted but that is all that was done. I was under the car tonight cleaning off some of the dirt when I noticed that the bigger cooling fan blade(passenger side) is hitting on the bottom of the housing. In fact, the blade of the fan is hanging below one of the cut out sections so that when you rotate the fan blade by hand, it hits and stops to the right and the left. In order words, the fan blade will not spin. What in the world is wrong here? When I had it off I can't remember the fan hitting the housing anywhere. If I remember correctly, both fans spun freely. All I did was bolt it back up and now I have this problem. One more question...when I noticed this, the car is jacked up in front and on jack stands....could this change the geometry of the fan blades?
Thanks,
Gary

Jacking it up should not make a bit of difference, that is not the cause of the problem.

Looking at the assy I took off, I don't get any ideas.
Is the blade cracked? Can you get a picture?

All my digital stuff don't work. Let's see if I can draw a picture that would suffice and then scan it. This is the damndest thing I have ever seen. It's like one whole fan blade is completely out of the housing on the bottom. Let's see what I can do to draw a picture. Also, haven't been too lucky uploading stuff on here so I may have to send you an email.

Guess I'll jerk the fans and shroud out tomorrow to see what the heck happened. I did notice the last time I drove the car it ran hotter than normal and the temperature didn't come back down. Probably because the fan didn't come on. The blade that is sticking outside the shroud looks like it has ben rubbing on something since the tip of the fan blade has the paint rubbed off.

Check the fan motor... it seems the only way the fan blades would hit the shroud is if the fan wasn't centered in the opening. Perhaps the motor is shot and the shaft is out of center of the whole motor assembly came loose.
