I have an '86 TC, can I put an LA3 computer in there without changing the harness? What exactly makes the LA3 any different? Thanks for the help!

The 87-88 computers (LA2, LB2, 8UA AND LA3)
had 15 MhZ computer clock speeds while the earlier EECs had 7 Mhz. They also had 32K memory as oppposed to 16 in th eearlier units.

The 87-88 also accomodate the ACT sensor, not found on the earlier TCs. You could always add to your existing harness to utilize it.
It's also programmed to benefit from the intercooler and though to have the best timing and fuel curves.

You would have to upgrade to a big VAM or it won't run right as far as the A/F ratio goes.

The ACT is a 2 wire sensor so you would have to add the two wires, connect them to the correct pins on the EEC and get a connector for the ACT. You would also have to drill and tap the lower or upper intake for the ACT sensor itself
