computer swap question

I kinda asked this before but never really got an answer so I'll try again. If I swap the computer from my 5sp to my auto will it give me the extra boost lost because of the auto? Would it be a simple unplug/replug swap? Any help on this would be appreciated. I plan on putting the gillis valve in soon but was curious if any had ever tried to do this and if it worked.
Thank,
Tank
88 TC auto silver full load/sunroof 147K K&N cone filter, Gillis valve set at 17 lbs. This thing looks cool but is dog compared to my 87 5sp that now has motor out and is being rebuilt.(slowly)May make one killer car from these two yet.

I wouldn't bother Tank.
Put the gillis or a cheapo bleed valve in.
As far as timing, bump the distributor a couple degrees.

Thanks GaryS#2 for your input. By the way where do you get parts here in canada? Mainly engine parts. I'm having a hell of a time finding internal parts for my rebuild that arn't from the USA at double the $$$.

Tank, I might be wrong on this but I think the computer has some connrol of shifting or conver lock up on the automatics. I doubt the manual computer can handle that. Maybe some of the guys with autos know for sure.

LOL, I know what you mean. I haven't needed any internal parts so far, but I am lookin at my M/C bill for an adj cam spkt from Race Engineering and wondering if it was worth it.
What do you need/want for internals?
Forget pistons and rods, you can buy a HO 5.0 and computer for that price.

Petes right the auto tranny won't shift to overdrive if you use a stick computer.

If you want to try to get more boost, jump out the BCS with a short pice of hose at the turbo. My automatic would give about 13psi with just this change. The G-tech meter said it was making 162hp, up from 139 with the factory hookup.

The stick computer will also not lock the converter on the A4LD. This is a big deal.... lockup converters are designed to be locked up much of the time, and their life is shortened if they never lock up.

Thanks guys! This is were I find this board so handy. I could of done that swap and screwed stuff up. I think I'll just put the gillis on and go from there. I have the K&N in already and am going to bump the timing here soon.(just had nasal surgery so I'm pretty slow at doing stuff for a while).I'll run the auto till she dies(or last forever)
AS for internal parts pistons, rings, rods and bearings. If I"M going to pay US prices in Canada then I may as well wait and buy the best stuff I can for this motor.
Thanks'
