Coilover strut in contact with hood

I have a coilover setup on the car and just saw today while working on it that the hood is coming into contact with the top of strut; the piece that is used to adjust the strut dampening stiffness. I’ve had the coilovers for over a year now and this was never an issue. What could cause this all of a sudden? The strut left a nice dent on the inner hood and now the hood is not sitting flush when closed. Could the hood brackets have shifted? The car has been on jack stands for a few months. Not sure if that would/could cause anything. What do you guys think?

Isn't there a rubber isolater on the top of the strut? I would guess the rubber has set from compression.

I am not aware of any now.  I think the thing to do would be to use the Mustang ones with the adapters for the shocks on the rear axle.

yeah, the shock adapters should be used if you're going to run mustang shocks/coilovers...the tbird shocks are 2-3 in longer than the mustang ones so using the shock brackets puts the mustang shock in a mounting position that is very close to the factory length so the shock can travel enough.

we got them on our site: https://tbirdcougarparts.com
