Codes on the g/f's no-start TC

OK, so I finally shelled out $$$ and bought the NICE code reader for EEC-IV set-ups, and man is it cool. I ran a KOEO and a KOER on the red one and got a 41 (there's a leaky injector and a crack in the otherwise working EGR so "Lean Cond." makes sense). So, now that I can prove it works and that I know how to use it, I put on the g/f's TC and voila, it just stares at me. So I unplug it and do it again. Nothing, so I unplug it and run the red one again, 41, hmmm, plug it back into hers, nothing. Which can only mean 1 thing (please God, let this be it), a dead ECU. What do you guy think?

is the orange ground wire on the turbo there? I've heard it won't give codes without that.

What year is it? When you turn the ignition key to on, does the Check Engine light come on? If not, did it used to?

If it used to, but it is not now, then a possible cause is that the EEC isn't getting power which would explain your problems. The EEC itself rarely goes bad, unless you did something to cause a voltage spike.

As mentioned above, be sure the O2 ground wire is connected.

As JT said, it is VERY rare for the EEC to go bad. More than likely EEC isnt getting power. If you dont have a CEL or dont know if the CEL works so you cant do JTs test, turn key to run, remove TPS connector, and measure voltage between orange and black wires (harness side). Should be 5.0V. If you get zero, EEC isnt powered up.

Also check the connectors that come off the neg batt terminal (the thinner wires). THese are the EEC ground to the batt.

Thanks for the info. The ground wire is good. I'll check out the power to the EEC first, but her wiring was REALLY messed with! They put a friggen secondary battery in to combat all the shorts and almost every wire has been spliced to all hell and had relays added. It killed the coil, so the EEC getting zapped isn't a far fetch.
