Pull the reference line off the fuel pressure regulator and see if there is any gas or the strong smell of gas in the line. If yes, the regulator is bad, replace it.

If not check fuel pressure. http://turbotbird.com/techinfo/Fuel_Syst...ostics.htm

See JT site for code 72 http://www.tbirdheritage.com/turbocoupe/...-Chart.php

There was no actual gas in the fpr line. The fpr side smelled like gas but the intake side did no smell like gas

Also noticed it does this the worse when the car is warmed up. Wheb ibstarted it cols this morning it ran good but when it warmed up it just shut off and would not run without feathering gas.

A faint smell of gas is normal. A strong smell is a problem.

VAM door hanging open or failed VAM? You can check this by checking VAM volts between W/BK (+) and BK/W (-) wires at VAM connector. KOEO should be .3 V or so. At 1000 RPM hot idle around 1 V or so.

also just realized. I went and cleared codes and tried to get the codes and it started flashing codes but then started getting fuzzy and stopped flashing codes. I repositioned the paperclip 10 times and the codes would not flash....when I originally got codes Monday night it was the same way for about 20 minutes then finally flashed codes...some type of ground or eec problem?

got it to run, barely...but at 2k rpms it sits at 36-37 psi and around 1k rpm it bounces fast between 38-39 psi. also with vac off it sits at 43 psi any rpms.

a couple times when i had it running the idle would jump up by itself and then just die...?
