Ive searched high and low and cant find anything on trouble code 88. Hope someone on here can help. My T/C is an 88 model. Car runs ok, but has a code 85 and 88. I have a 5 speed with an automatic computer. I understand that is why I have the 85 code, but dont know about the code 88. Thanks

Also forgot to add, but the car idles weird when it reaches operating temp. It will hic-up, almost die and then catch itself. It only does this after it gets hot. I have put on new ECT sensor, ACT sensor, new TPS with correct adjustment , fresh plugs and ignition module. Thanks again

Thanks Paulie. It seems that the codes for this car must be specific to itself. I could find a generic code 88, but it said that it was a fan circuit fault. I knew my fans were working properly. Thank you again

Thats correct except for the 2.3 88 Coupe. Ford messes around with codes from model to model and year to year. If you replace you ecm with a 5 speeder unit those codes will not be their. Other than that i do not think it matters and wont effect the performance with the auto ECM Thank you Sir and have a good afternoon.
