Cobra R wheels

I am thinking about Cobra R wheels for my '88 TC. I was wondering about sizing, 17x8 or 17x9. Will these wheels work if I lower the car 1-1.5 inches? Also, if there's anyone out there with some pictures of a similar car with these wheels on if you could post them so I could take a look. Thanks for your help.
