Hey fellas, well since i just got word that my transmission will be done sunday and ready for pick up. I have one quick question that i almost forgot about. with the purchase of a used fork in good shape from thunderchicken and the wiring harness for the t5 i want to make sure everything is in order.

now to the question. before i realized the trans was shot i replaced the clutch used the alignment tool and all. clean the flywheel. but for some reason when i hooked up the slave cylinder i had to back out the pin that holds the fork inplace about 1/2 an inch b/c the fork was hitting the bellhousing. now im not sure that it was because the PO installed the clutch disk backwords or not but is this normal? i used a stock clutch replacemnt kit from napa. thanks for your help .

I've never heard of anyone moving the pivot point. Replacing them, yes, moving them, no.

Pete from what ive been reading it seems like the flywheel may need to be shimmed. to move it further out. i belive this is why i had to move the pivit ball towards the front of the car. to get it closer to the flywheel.

1.1875" ( 1 & 3/16")

That is the thickness, in the clutch contact area, of what we think is a new flywheel. Dan E measured the one he got from NAPA a few days ago. I've never heard of anybody moving the pivot to compensate for a cut wheel. If you had to move it for some reason it was to deal with a bigger problem that having a few thousandths shaved of the FW. Especially if you had to move it cloes to 1/2"

yea... but this was with a trans problem, trouble shifting into first. but i cant remember what all was going on. i just kow that the fork was hitting the back of the bell. it could be a good chance that it is bent bc the previous owner trahsed the old trans and blew the clutch so maybe he has abusing the fork. when i pull it out i will compare. with the one i have now. so well see. maybe it is a combination of cut flywheel and bent fork.
