clutch cable adjuster?

hey people. was wondering why in the owners manual does it say that the clutch pedal can be pulled up to adjust the clutch. if you read it, it says that when sitting in the drivers seat take your foot and pull up on the clutch pedal until you hear (and feel) a click noise. push back down and the pedal should do ? what...what does this do? i dont know it says that if a click on the down motion means that an adjustment was made. but made to what. is also there a way to adjust the stiffness of the clutch cable to make it less hard to move down?

I know this adjustment exists on V-8 Thunderbirds and Mustangs because they use a cable actuated clutch. The Turbo Coupe uses a hydraulic system with master and slave hydraulic cylinders. As far as I know the hydraulic clutch actuation system is not user adjustable and sort of adjusts itself hydraulically.

The pre 87 TCs use a clutch cable, not the hydraulic system used on the 87-88s. My 86 adjusted by pulling "up" on the pedal. If it click, it need an adjustment and if it doesn't then it wasn't ready for an adjustment.
