it's been sitting in the shop since 2010....figured it was about time to take it back to the strip. it went 12.70's last time. stock un-ported gt40p engine with a circle track cam and a holly carb.

i'm going to run the stock wheels and drag radials and then switch to a set of draglites and real slicks and see how much(if any) it picks up. any guesses? going to the track may 31 in tulsa...

I don't know about anyone else but I wouldn't mind seeing some pictures of the engine bay! (I see that it's a 5.0 and that's ok) I hope you pick up some time with the slicks!

it's not fancy. just a low buck project. i traded some stuff for the car about 10 years ago. the engine and trans was already gone and the interior was wiped out. the body was straight so i didn't part it. i used my backup 5.0 from my old circle track car and decided to see how fast i could get it to run. i have a nitrous kit that will go on it in the near future. i'm pretty sure it will run 11.50's or better on the titty. it still has the 3.73 gears and i'm only running through the traps at 5800 with a 7000 redline. a shot of n20 should get it closer to 7000 and 120mph.

finally got to the track. problem after problem. the car lost all electrical power on the way to tech. finally got it running again and ran it. it just would not leave to save it's life.....sputtered throughout 1st gear and finally started to run. best it could muster was 14.21 @ 103. not even close to the last best of 12.72 @ 107.

this morning i looked at everything and i think it is dirty electrical cables/wiring. it sat for 3 years so i guess i should expect stuff like that. it still has a circle track cam in it which is way too big for drag racing so i'm going to recurve the distributor to get the advance in quicker to help it get going. i tried to lock it out but it is bugger to get started when hot.

i'll post results after the next trip. i spent so much time trying to get the thing to run that i didn't have time to swap out the wheels. next time...
