Clean up and paint coolant lines

Yeah I know, the heat rating's a little over the top(2000°)!
That 20338 coolant piece that you mentioned you used several of...
I went up the road and looked at one side by side with the hoses I'm replacing above the oil filter that new one is a good inch and a quarter shorter than the one that plugs in directly above the oil filter, and probably another inch and a quarter shorter than the other one. I'm assuming you didn't have any problems despite that? I also noticed the ID of that hose listed by Gates is 0.61 which is a bit smaller. I wonder if that is what the engine hoses originally are.

I took this picture to show that hose(20338) compared to the two hoses I took off the back of the engine. You can see how it's a little shorter than the one, but considerably shorter than the other.
I decided to use 2x Gates 28467 to cut the pieces on the back of the engine by the oil filter so I could get them perfect length.
The other reason I took the picture was to show the condition. These hoses practically operate right next to each other, sitting almost like they are in the picture. Yet the one is in such a good condition that I'm probably going to actually reuse it on the front of the engine by the water pump after cutting a little bit off the ends. Weird how differently they aged despite being the same age same location.

Hoses are cheap. Is it really worth trying to reuse one that has already seen service? Keep it in the trunk as an Emergency Spare. It’s the same with hose clamps. I have almost a dozen that are now Emergency Use Only. Clamps are cheap too.

Be aware that hoses stretch and change shape over time. And yes, both of the 20338 hoses fit perfectly on the Oil Cooler, which are then connected to the metal tubes and to each’s final destination.

I wasn't trying to cheap out or something. The hose just looks so good, I thought I'll put it on the front of the engine where I'll see it all the time and keep an eye on it.
Maybe you're right I will just put a new one on.
