Chopped Engine Harness

Out of pure frustration I cut every wire to get the ECU/Engine Harness out.

Please tell me I didn't cut some badly needed wire. lol.

I have a new wiring harness to go in so ruining the current one in it doesn't matter.

I'm also curious if I can get rid of the other harness to clean up under the hood? I don't need cruise control or abs or any of those things.. I think I remember reading the fuel pump relay is connected in there.

Thanks!

Basically it doesn't really matter what harness is sending power/signal to/from the sensors as long as the wires used are appropriately sized/located and fused where necessary.

No reason you couldn't remove the stuff you don't really need, as long as you are careful about it.

Pin 22 is Fuel Pump Control.
Don't forget to account for the IRCM Fuel Pump control circuit as well!
IRCM pins 5 and 18.

The 87-88 harness is VERY complex. Many parts of the harness carry not only wiring for the engine control system, but also wiring for the ABS and PRC system. Getting frustrated and randomly cutting wires will lead to hours and hours of extra work down the road.

I took this to mean he already had a direct replacement harness ready to install, and just didn't want duplicate wires laying around.

Make sure you know what you are cutting/removing before proceeding with a project like this.

And be sure to set aside plenty of time...

Admittedly the post is confusing. If he has a completely compatible replacement harness, why the concern about cutting "some badly needed wire." Clarification would help, but just randomly cutting the harness out of the car probably leads to all sorts of problems, hence his frustration is only beginning.
