cheezy boost control???

i bypassed my BCS and instead of a coupling i put in a TEE and ran an extra 8" of hose and left it open, drove the car and kept cutting away an inch at a time till i got the 15-17 psi boost i wanted, what i was left with is a 4" pc. of hose left off the tee. at about 6" it was around stock psi(9-10). anyone heard of doing this and if there are negative affects?

i took the 2 hoses off of the BCS and inserted a TEE on the open end i put an 8" pc of hose, and slowly cut away an inch at a time till i got the boost i wanted

Interesting.

If you just joined the 2 hoses from the BCS together (without the T)(or replace them all together with just a single hose) you'll get 15-17psi depending on what year car you have. No need for the other bleed hose you added.

i have an 86 so that wouldn't work i was trying to find a way to get some resistence so it would jump to 24+lbs and i finally got it without spending the money on a valve

make a valve. go to home depot. go to the air hoses. buy a T valve and 2 other connectors to slid the hoses on. and bada bing you have a home made boost controler.for like 5 bucks. just pull hoses off stock one and plug them on the home made one. unstable vary likeley you could hurt somethig if you dont know what you are doing like me i didnt care though it was cool and i got the boost i wanted and just bitched and screamed whtn my IC hoses popped. fixed that and the valve that i cant rember the name by the DIST kept popping off after repacing it gerr bad car R.I.P.

If the car has a BCS..then it will work on your 86.....On my 84 when I first had it all I did was swap out the fitting on the turbo for one from one of the BCS-equipped cars and ran the bleed line into the turbo inlet...

i think you got confused, it did work on my car that is why i posted it. when i just bypassed the BCS it made to much boost went to 24+, so i got a tee fitting and added a little bit of hose till i got the boost i wanted. car runs fine. can't be any differrent then buying an expensive adjustable valve. the only differrence is if you want more boost you cut more of the hose off, less boost add a longer piece of hose

the 2 hoses that go to the BCS, disconnect them and put a plastic tee(actually i used a metal threaded tee to hold better with the clamps) on the open end of the tee put an 8" piece of hose onto it and leave it open, drive car if not enough boost(probably would be around stock or even a little less) cut an inch off at a time until you get what you want and just leave it alone(open) and that is an "adjustable" boost valve.

you don't need to do this on the IHI turbos because just bypassing the BCS would only give you 16-18 boost. but on T3 turbo's bypassing it will cause way to much boost(boost gauge buried at 24 and was probably higher, so we "slowly drove car home to rethink. then i came up with this idea that way the open hose kinda controls what the boost is. the shorter the open hose the more boost. my open hose is about 4 1/2 to 5" long and it gives me 15 boost on my 86 tc
