i havnt pulled codes yet, just wanted to grab a few ideas before i start tinkering again...especially since its cold out, and im already sick
as of recently, ive been having issues with the car hanging idle at 2000rpms, and sometimes at 3000rpms, and if it give the pedal WOT, it will idle down, and at idle, it gives me a blinking check engine light
yesterday, i adjusted the TPS, got it to about .98v, since my volt meter is digital, i was unable to check for deadspots on the TPS sweep, and i forgot to check WOT voltage
now this issue only happens very occasionally, but if the idle hangs, i can shut the car of, start it back up, and have no issues for a while, and it may do it again shortly after, or there are times where the car will have no issues
at this point, im starting to think its the TPS causing this issue, i have swapped IAC's and cleaned em with no change, so i dont believe those would be the issue

Have you pulled the codes? Your blinking Check Engine light (it is an '87, right?) indicates that the system has found a fault.
As far as the TPS, have checked the TPS itself to ensure that there is no breaks or jumps when the throttle is slowly moved?

i havnt pulled codes yet, i havnt felt like sitting in the car, with no heat, and in the 30* weather reading the light just yet
as for the TPS, i wasnt able to check for breaks in the TPS sweep because i have a digital volt meter, and it doesnt "refresh" fast enough, even when moving the TPS very slowly

i missed the part about the digital meter in your original post.
i would make sure that your TPS voltage is still under 1.0V, or you could have hanging high idle issues.
i don't know what you can really do until you check to see what trouble codes the EEC is reporting, as well as the TPS itself.
Any other issues? For some reason i'm kind of thinking you may see some certain EEC codes, but i could be wrong.

i havnt had any other issues, i did recently break the vacume line for my EGR, so i just capped it on the vacume tree, but i had this issue before i broke the line, so i have a good feeling they arnt related

.98 was too high for my car. I had to set it around .91 to get it to stop stalling and idling high at random.

Mine was doing the same thing - replaced the TPS and the problem is gone for good. My original TPS (factory) always checked OK but caused the problems that you described.....some of the best $40 I ever spent on the car.....

Same here with my TPS, I forgot to mention. I could set the factory one down to .91 or so and it would still act like crap. When I replaced it, it worked perfect [Image: smile.gif]
