Chassis paint

I'm re-doing the body, engine bay and under-carriage of my '88 and currently I'm stripping off the undercoating and was wondering if anyone knows what Ford used on the underside for paint? My car is silver and what I have found beneath the undercoating is a sort of gray color.
Thanks,
Rick

That gray color is still in use today. The Mustang still is a Fox platform and is the same gray with body color overspray.

Is this paint available in parts stores or from Ford? Color name? Part number?
Thanks

I used a Krylon grey, bought it at WalMart, it matched the factory grey almost perfectly.
If your going for the OE look, don't get too carried away with the grey though, from the factory most of the grey was covered with a thin layer of overspray of the body color.

I have a couple of cans at home, I can get you the number if you want.

Part number would be great. As far as overspray goes I plan on painting the rocker panels. Thanks.

I know this is an old topic, but I finally came across the can of Krylon paint that I had thought was lost forever.

The color name is "Dove Gray" #1605.

It was as close a color to the factory primer gray that I was able to find in a spray can.
