Hello, 1988 Turbcoupe, auto. What viscosity is best? Does this require friction modifier?? From dealer only?
I just bought the car, has 74k miles. How often should this oil be changed??
Thanks

Book says hypoid gear lube with 4 oz friction modifier, does not specify viscosity but refers to Ford specification and part numbers. Your parts supplier should be able to offer a recommendation. I don't recall a specific mileage interval for changing the lube in 88 but a more recent Ford requirement is that it be changed at 100,000 mile intervals.

I know the newer 8.8s require 75/140 synthetic and friction modifier.

I used Royal Purple in the rear, and it requires no friction modifier. It works well for me.
