I'm about to call a guy about a local 84 XR7 in the paper, and would like to know if there are nay particular questions I may need to ask him?
Also, is it difficult to add things like the intercooler from the 87-88 to these cars?
These are fuel injected correct? I ask because my 79 Indy Pace Car Mustang was a carbed turbo...
Thanks guys!

They are fuel injected. You would need to get an SVO housing for the T-3 or mill the existing housing so you could run the intercooler from an 87-88. The upper and lower intakes are different than the 87-88 style. If it is an automatic it came with I believe a C3 3 speed trans. I don't believe an overdrive was available on the 84 XR7. You might want to go to the CoolCats website and look around over there. If you do buy it, I know where there is a 1984 XR7 in a junkyard pretty much complete, if you need parts. Hope this helps some...Tommy

Thanks!
I have always wanted an 87-88 TC, but this is kinda close.
Just tried t call them, and the guy wasn't home yet. They were asking 300, so I am not expecting too much...
This one is a 5 speed by the way.
I'm just wondering if I would be better off waiting for a 87-88 to show up...
If it is fairly nice, maybe I can gt it and give it some TLC, then try top sell it for $$$ towards an 87-88???
Is there much that can be done to the 84 models for performance?
Thanks!

How far have you parted it already???
I just called the guy, and its been sitting awhile. This one is black, and the idiot left a window in the weather for several months, what an idiot!!!
He said it had no brakes, but he would get it started up etc, for me to come look at it...
I doubt I'll be impressed, but who knows...
I'll let ya know in a few!
Maybe he'll take 150 for it, maybe less!
Thanks guys!

OK guys, ths car was no-count...
IT did start, and smoked alot, but been sitting.
The interior was TRASHED, and filthy.
If he had not been standing in the yard, I'd have just back out, and left without stopping... It was that bad!

Well, it runs, and if you could get it for 150, it'd be a great parts car. It has a t3 turbo on it, great upgrade for the 87-88's, the transmission, and all kinds of little knick-knacks. If you have a place to store it, I'd consider it

I am in Huntsville.
I have a bead on another one though, out in the county a little wasy, I've seen an 85? TC in a yard for a few years now, its been there for awhile.
I went by there last week and thouhgt about asking them about it, but figured I'd look around for an 87-88.
I went by there to day to ask them about it, and no-one was home. It was there with a for sale sign (couldn't see from the raod). The hood was also kinda open, so I went ahead and took a quick peek, and it already has a dang front mount IC!!!!!
This one is silver, and looks pretty cool! The interrior loosk fairly decent to good. Definately needs paint, but I hope tomorrow, when I go back, they will be there.
Hopefully I will get lucky and they will just want a couple hundred to haul it off.
I doubt it runs, but I could go back and get the other motor if necessary.
If its a HG, I'll just throw one on, take the head to be done, and throw some thick oil in it for awhile...
As for getting the no count cougar as a parts car, I just parted out a 93 supercoupe and hauled it ff last week, so that is not really an option. If someone really needs the drivetrain, and wants to pay shipping, I will get it for ya...
Are you saying that the 83-86 turbos were better than the 87-88??? I thought they were all T3s... forgive me if I'm showing my lack of TC knowledge...
Please wish me luck on my trip to check out this TC tomorrow!
Thanks!
