Popo told me i need to quiet my car down. He was cool about it though, didnt pull me over or nothing.

Right now I have a stock DP going through a stock gutted cat into a stock Y pipe cut before the mufflers, with pipes bent 90 degrees or so to exit out in front of the rear wheels.

Its really only *too* loud when you get on the gas, but I guess a lot of people would find it too loud any time, as it is straightpiped.

Id like to either cut out the cat and put a muffler there, or replace the Y pipe with a dual outlet muffler. Id like something fairly cheap, but I dont want to sacrifice power if I dont have to. I dont wanna *quiet* the car down so much as just tone it down a bit.

Also, would a bigger turbo quiet down the exhaust at all? I know turbos do act a bit as mufflers. My dads 86 F350 6.9 has a banks turbo and its straighpiped. It seems a lot quieter than my car. It has a 3" exhaust all the way to the back. Im not sure if its actually quieter or if its the actual tone of the sound. The truck makes an awesome exhaust note when you floor it, probably a result of the high compression of the diesel.

I just put a single magnaflow on mine. Didnt do anything to the hp as measured by the seat of pants. Its a straight thru type.

Mine closely resembles a 3" pipe, oh- ohyeah - the only things in there's the cat...

No muffler on mine, and almost annoyingly loud. Sounds great when I snap the throttle, but drones awfully at cruise.

What kinda sound did it create? How much did it quiet it down? Is it the only thing on your exhaust system?

It mellowed out the uber ricer sound that it was making with nothing but the cat on the car...

My system is actually the stock cat & downpipe into the single 2 1/2 system. I can try to tape it tomorrow & email it. (Windstorm outside would make it difficult to hear the car 40+mph gusts right now)

It is not really loud at all, you still know its there, however the turbo is now noticible over the exhaust noise. It doesnt drone at speed, it's actually quite nice from a commuter car staindpoint.

Nothing is quite as satisfying as stepping hard on the accellerator after being trapped in traffic for 30 minutes to leave the rest of the suckers in the rear view. Couldnt really do that with the bonneville.
