Popo told me i need to quiet my car down. He was cool about it though, didnt pull me over or nothing.
Right now I have a stock DP going through a stock gutted cat into a stock Y pipe cut before the mufflers, with pipes bent 90 degrees or so to exit out in front of the rear wheels.
Its really only *too* loud when you get on the gas, but I guess a lot of people would find it too loud any time, as it is straightpiped.
Id like to either cut out the cat and put a muffler there, or replace the Y pipe with a dual outlet muffler. Id like something fairly cheap, but I dont want to sacrifice power if I dont have to. I dont wanna *quiet* the car down so much as just tone it down a bit.
Also, would a bigger turbo quiet down the exhaust at all? I know turbos do act a bit as mufflers. My dads 86 F350 6.9 has a banks turbo and its straighpiped. It seems a lot quieter than my car. It has a 3" exhaust all the way to the back. Im not sure if its actually quieter or if its the actual tone of the sound. The truck makes an awesome exhaust note when you floor it, probably a result of the high compression of the diesel.
