After years of delay, final able to pull off the tarp and bring my 83 back to life. Been a member of NATO for several years in antisapation of this moment. Damn this is exciting! Need help on a couple of issues. Cams: a few years back I installed the mildest cam SVO had for the 2.3. Don't have the specs but I remember it was more lift than the 88 turbo. Engine wouldn't run, supputer and stop. Since I've been told my year computer can't handle anything but a stock cam. Anyone know if this is true. I've sourced a Ranger cam and roller followers, will this work? How about just the followers? Thanks, one piece at a time I'll get this baby running!
83 dead bird, in pieces however I'm reading from the book of the dead, should be running soon.

I don't know of a reason why the computer can't handle another cam. Lot's of people drop in the RR cam.

If you had problems with a mild cam in the past, let me suggest that it probably wasn't the cam itself. Maybe it wasn't timed right or something else got out of place. You might want to chaek cam timing again and then ignition timing
