well i just got back from home depot with my CAI supplies

i got a 3"x8ft aluminum duct, 3" al. 90*, and 2 3" hose clamps - total of $9.91 [Image: biggrin.gif]

i couldnt wait to start on it so there i was in the parking lot hehe...it takes a little finess to get the ducting on the VAM, but after a few curse words it went on without too much of the ducting unraveling

it started to pour as soon as i got the clamp on the VAM so i just tucked the ducting in front of the condensor and came home...it stopped raining when i got home [Image: rolleyes.gif] but ill have to wait until the roads dry before i can test it out

im gonna put the k&n on it now and snap a few pics

uhhh...i cant get my k&n behind the header panel or bumper cover...the 4x6 cone is too fat to fit in any of the spaces...DOH [Image: confused.gif]

futhermore...i hopped on 95 for some 'testing' with the duct stuffed through one of the spaces in the air-dam(is that what its called?)...i guess the duct couldnt take the air force at 105 and got a small crush against the plastic...its a good thing i have 8ft of it to mess with [Image: rolleyes.gif] i am just leaving it tucked up next to the condenser for now

it pulls about the same...but it does like revving higher now(doesnt feel like it runs out of breath at 5200 anymore)...so im sure winding out the gears longer will help whenever i make it back to the track

Try bringing it in thru the bottom. It'll fit. (One way or another)

Like Nat said, from the bottom. I take mine in and out at the corner of the car.

runs pretty good...as i said before it may pull a slight bit harder...but i can wind it out to 5600-5800rpm with ease 1st-3rd now

i really want to get the k&n on there soon...my CAI is doubling as a vaccum for dirt and debris

whatcha think? do i have a career in this stuff? [Image: wink.gif]

I think your thoughts on dirt and debris are a little more serious than you think. I would NOT leave that open to the elements like that. The job looks neat and clean though, except for the pipe sticking out of the air dam, yuck. Get that K&N on there pronto- to protect your engine, and to make it look better. Don't forget that those air dam bars will flex a little, just don't break one. Good luck!

okay I just finished up the K&N a few hours ago

it did fit though the space in the drivers fender without removing the guard, and with some wiggling made it behind the bumper cover

i made a page for it on my site to make it easier to view [Image: biggrin.gif]

hows it look now?

I just curious, dosn't puting the air filter there make the turbo a lot quieter?

i cant really notice much difference...but then again my exhaust is louder than the compressor whine

the design of the flex pipe may muffle the turbo noise slightly though

Looks good, I don't know that I would want to clean it as often as you will have to with it sitting like that.
